25/06/2002
GAME, Europe’s leading specialist retailer of computer software and video games, is celebrating the opening of its 400th store. The store in Maidstone, Kent is one of the first GAME stores to fully demonstrate the new GAME brand identity in its entirety, and is the latest in what has been an extensive expansion and re-branding programme.
The vast majority of stores that are currently trading as Electronics Boutique will be re-branded to trade as GAME by the end of October, and a further 20 plus new stores are scheduled to open in the UK this year, with an additional 50 stores planned to open throughout Continental Europe.
John Steinbrecher, Group Chief Executive Officer commented, “Our expansion strategy, which has taken place over several years will continue. The 400th store represents the true success of our business and also the growing strength of the GAME brand.”
The GAME Group operates stores throughout the UK, Eire, Sweden, Spain and France, as well as concessions within House of Fraser, Debenhams and Fenwick department stores.
