GAME continues London expansion

12/11/2003

GAME, Europe’s leading video games chain, will open its first City of London store on Thursday 13th November at 86 Cheapside.

This continues a year of rapid expansion for GAME in London, with six stores opening in just six months.

GAME now has over 25 stores in key shopping locations inside the M25 area, including a flagship store on Oxford Street, and stores in Walthamstow, Canary Wharf, Surrey Quays, Kingston-upon-Thames, Camden and Kensington.

Launching the new store in the City, GAME is trialling its first exclusive ‘order and collect service’* for customers in the run up to Christmas.

Customers can call a dedicated hotline where orders can be placed, the items will be reserved and collection can be arranged at a time convenient with them. The service is designed primarily for City workers – who are pushed for time or know little about games products.

Customers visiting on the first few days will also be entitled to take advantage of selected opening offers.

Stephen Boyce, Property Director at GAME said “This year we’ve expanded faster in London than ever before. Not only that, we’ve trialled new formats of stores in London suburbs, and our 2,000 sq ft Out of Town store at Gallions Reach in Beckton.

“As the leading games retailer, our customers continually expect to see our stores in more locations – and locations that are convenient for them. Customers tell us that it’s important for them to be able to shop in our stores, in places that are quick to get access to, and that the range of products and level of customer service is still as paramount as ever.

“The opening of Cheapside, our first in the City of London, is just the latest in GAME’s push to be more widely available for our customers in London, and again demonstrates our commitment to new format stores.”

This year GAME has made significant strides into London, beginning with Putney on 9 May. Other openings soon followed in Fulham, Kensington, Chiswick throughout August, September and October, as well as GAME’s second Out of Town store, which opened in Beckton on 2 September. In addition to Cheapside opening on 13 November, Wandsworth will open its doors at the end of this month.
