GAME opens at midnight for Halo 2
10/11/2004
Over 120 GAME stores across the UK will be opening at midnight tonight as Microsoft’s massively anticipated video game Halo 2 goes on sale for the first time.
The game was given a huge launch in the USA on Tuesday, when over 7,000 retailers opened at midnight to cater for the unprecedented demand.
As with the launch of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas 10 days ago, thousands of games fans are expected to queue to buy the game in scenes more usually witnessed when new consoles are launched.
Alex Croft, GAME Buying Director said “The excitement around the launch of Halo 2 is amazing. Customers are desperate to get their hands on it. They’ve been waiting years for this game, so we’re working flat out to make sure they can start playing it as soon as possible.”
“Launches like this show that blockbuster video games can be even more popular than films or music albums.”
Halo 2 is exclusive to the Microsoft Xbox, and is rated 16+ by PEGI (Pan European Game Information).
