GAME supports Basingstoke youth incentive scheme

08/03/2005

Big prizes are on offer to local kids who sign up to Sentinel's new youth incentive scheme, 'Get with...' which rewards kids for good behaviour on their neighbourhood.

This is the first scheme of its kind organised by Sentinel, which aims to tackle a number of issues surrounding kids today, including boredom-related nuisance crimes, anti-social behaviour and the increase in the levels of obesity in children.

Lending their support to the scheme is GAME, Europe's leading retailer of computer software and video games. Lisa Artemis, PR Executive at GAME, said: "We're really excited to be involved with Sentinel's 'Get with...' scheme. GAME believes that it's a fantastic way to introduce young people from the Basingstoke area to new activities that are fun and get kids active."

The pilot scheme is being launched in Popley and begins with Rugby training during the Easter holidays, culminating in a final's day tournament and a party for 'Get with...' kids.

By signing up to the scheme kids are agreeing to steer clear of trouble and turn up to events and activities organised exclusively for them. In return they will earn points that can be converted into exciting prizes.

Community Wardens and local police officers are supporting the scheme and any 'Get with...' member who is found causing trouble or breaking any of the rules will have points deducted.

Sandie Plowman, Sentinel's Communications Co-ordinator, said: "too much attention is focussed on the kids who cause a nuisance and not enough paid to kids who work hard and stay out of trouble.

"This scheme will work towards rewarding kids for good behaviour and encouraging kids who get involved with causing a nuisance in neighbourhoods to think again."
