GAME workers keep cool in the new ‘Chill Out Zone’

01/09/2006

GAME Stores Group Ltd, the UK’s leading video games retailer, has launched a ‘Chill Out Zone’ for Head Office and Distribution Centre employees to use during business hours, to allow workers to take a break and to foster creativity.

Located at the company’s Basingstoke-based Head Quarters, the area contains a plasma screen, sofas, games consoles, a table football, two pool tables and several gaming pods, making it a fun and relaxed environment for employees to simply ‘Chill Out’ in.

Malcolm Knight, Head of HR for GAME, said, “The Chill Out Zone was established in order to offer employees the chance to take a break during working hours and to encourage a more relaxed culture. It also gives employees the chance to try out the latest games and increase their knowledge about the products we sell.

“From staff feedback we recognised we needed to offer added value to the company and create a more involving culture. We are constantly reviewing facilities and practices at Head Office to offer a fun and creative environment to employees.”

The Chill Out Zone is just part of an ongoing project to establish a more employee-friendly workplace. Other incentives implemented this year have been a Learning and Development Centre offering staff the opportunity to borrow consoles, games, books and other training materials to develop their business and personal development at all levels.

GAME also offers a dress down policy, 5 days a week; flexible working hours and a newly launched internal newsletter to ensure that all Head Office employees are kept informed of the company’s activities.
