GAME offered safe collection of the first PlayStation 3's at 7 am breakfast launch on Friday 23rd March

20/04/2007

GAME Stores Group Ltd, Europe’s leading video games retailer, held a morning launch of Sony PlayStation®3 at its flagship Oxford Street store, following London’s Metropolitan Police concerns over London retailers hosting midnight launches.

Following consultation with the Metropolitan Police and given the high value of the PS3TM consoles, GAME, the UK’s number one video games retailer put its customer’s safety first and made the decision to open the store at 7am. This guaranteed gamers had access to public transport so they could easily and safely transport their consoles home in daylight.

GAME invited the first 150 gamers who pre-ordered the PlayStation®3 to the store at 7am on Friday 23rd March. Customers were greeted with bacon butties, pastries and coffee and had the chance to claim Sony goodie bags whilst awaiting their turn to collect their PS3TM. After 9am the store was open for all GAME customers.

Anna Macario, GAME’s Marketing Director, states “The launch of the PS3 was a big deal to our customers. We managed the launch so it was safe for them, and the only thing they had to concentrate on was securing their new console.”

The PlayStation®3 is currently available to buy from GAME stores and at www.game.co.uk for £424.99
